When do you need a traffic management plan?
In New Zealand, you generally need an approved TMP whenever work, an event or an activity affects the road, footpath, berm or pedestrian movement. That includes roadworks and utility work, construction site access, cranes and concrete pours, scaffolding over footpaths, and events that close or slow a road. The plan must be approved by the road controlling authority (usually the local council or NZTA) before work starts.

To design a practical plan we need the site location, the type of work, expected duration, and any specific access or risk factors. From there our in-house team designs the layout, prepares the documentation to the current NZGTTM risk-based approach, and manages the submission and approval with the road controlling authority.

How long does TMP approval take?
Most councils ask for TMP submissions at least 5 to 15 working days before work starts, depending on the road and the complexity of the closure. Talk to us early and we will build the approval lead time into your programme.
Can you handle the council submission for us?
Yes. We prepare the TMP, lodge the corridor access request, and deal with the road controlling authority's questions until the plan is approved.
Do you do traffic management plans outside Hawke's Bay?
Our crews work across Hawke's Bay, but TMP design is a desk job: we can design and lodge plans for projects anywhere in New Zealand.
What does a TMP cost?
